Description

The Community Support Register gives you confidence that if you are unable to provide information (say, due to accident or illness) your medical details and who to notify are readily available to the relevant authorities. The Ballarat & District Community Support Register is a project of the Ballarat Neighbourhood Centre.

Activities

Details are entered and managed on a confidential computer database. Authorised volunteers will provide telephone welfare checks to participants on a regular basis. They may also pass information onto emergency services if needed.

This is a free service.

Ballarat Children's Contact Service

Description

The service provides a safe and nurturing environment for children to maintain contact with a parent who is no longer living with them. The service assists families where a history of conflict, stress, violence, abuse or parental separation may have impacted on a parent's ability to achieve regular, safe and healthy contact for children. The program offers :
• Intake and assessment
• Parent and child change over
• Supervised visits

Activities

Parents, lawyers or community agencies can contact CCS to make a request for the service on behalf of their client. Application forms are sent out to relevant parties (residential parent, contact parent and/or legal representative/community agency). Both parents must consent to using the service.
Initially, a 3 month service is offered. Progress will be reviewed at this time and in some circumstances the service may be extended for a further three month period. CCS does not offer a time unlimit

Conciliation is a specific service for parents who are separates and wish to reach an agreement with an ex-partner about issues such as care and contact of children. Description

LinkUp is a campus of Mount Rowan Secondary College. LinkUp is an alternative educational setting for students who have become disengaged with learning or do not cope with traditional mainstream schooling.

Activities

LinkUp delivers programs such as: Young Parents Program, First Links (young disengaged youth), Linking-In (first stage of relationships development), Karrung (consortium run supported youth accommodation) and pre- VCE/VCE programs. LinkUp assists all students to develop individual learning plans with an emphasis on enhancing skills in literacy and numeracy and addressing health and well-being so that learning can take place. A youth counsellor and youth workers are available.

Relationships Australia provide relationship support services for all individuals through Australia with the aim to achieve positive and respectful relationships.

Activities

Services include: Early Matters, an early intervention parenting support service; Reclaim, supporting victims of organisational sexual abuse; Compass, supporting anyone affected by Forced Adoption (parent, child or relatives); counselling (individual, couple and family); family dispute resolution and education programs. Counselling and Family Dispute Resolution are fee paying and means tested, but people are not denied a service if they cannot pay. Disability accessible.
